The Mala (small) NAREW is a short-range air defense system (SHORAD) developed in partnership between PGZ and MBDA for the Armed Forces of Poland. The Mala NAREW combines iLauncher, CAMM missiles and the SOLA radar station into a single 8x8 truck system. The first two units of the new air defense system were ready for testing by September 2022 with an estimated initial operational capability in 2023 or 2024.
The Pilica+ ground-based, short air defense system is the result of the Polish Mala NAREW program carried out by PGZ of Poland and MBDA UK. The Pilica+ short-range air defense system combines the radar-guided CAMM(L) surface-to-air missile, Polish-made autocannon and a very short-range infrared guided surface-to-air missile. In April 2023, Poland ordered 22 Pilica+ air defense systems under a 1.9 billion Pound contract. Pilica+ should achieve initial operational capability by 2024 or 2025.
