The Uran-9 is a combat multipurpose robotic system developed by Russia to provide support for combined combat, reconnaissance and counter-terrorism units with remote reconnaissance and fire support. The Uran-9 robotic system is equipped with a laser warning system and target detection, identification and tracking equipment. The weapon system includes a 30mm 2A72 cannon, a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, four Ataka anti-tank guided missiles and six Igla-S surface-to-air missiles. The system will be promoted in the international market beginning in 2016.
The Uran-9 was tested in Syria in 2017 and 2018 and the Russian military detected a number of deficiencies such as loss of contact with the control operator and inability to conduct combat operations in urban terrain at close range. Therefore is expected that the Uran-9 will undergo a series of modifications to make it mission ready.
