The VPK-Ural is a heavyweight 4x4 tactical armored developed by the Military Industrial Company (MIC) to serve as a high mobility armored personnel carrier (APC). The vehicle features a mine blast resistant chassis and utilizes commercial off-the-shelf components (COTS) like the Atlet armored vehicle. The VPK-Ural is a 14.5 metric tons vehicle powered by a 360-hp YamMZ-546 turbo diesel engine delivering a maximum road speed of 100 kph and a cruising range of 1,000 kilometers. The troop’s compartment has seating capacity for up to 12 fully equipped infantrymen. The hull can withstand the explosion of six kilograms of TNT while providing ballistic protection against 7.62mm ammunition at a distance of five meters. The VPK-Ural was unveiled in June 2019 and the first sale to an undisclosed export customer was announced in March 2020.
