The SVCh, also known as Chukavin's sniper rifle, is a 7.62x54mm semi-automatic and compact sniper rifle developed by the Kalashnikov Concern based upon the Dragunov SVD sniper rifle. The SVCh-308 is the NATO compatible variant of the rifle utilizing 7.62x51mm cartridges and is aimed for the export market. The SVCh rifle has been designed to take out targets at ranges of 600 meters with outstanding precision fitted with new options less prone to suffer dislocation. The new sniper rifle tests were carried out in September 2018. The SVCh sniper rifle is expected to replace the SVD within the Russian marksmen beginning in 2019 or 2020. The first deliveries to the Russian troops started in the summer of 2022.
