Skyflash is a variant of US AIM-7E Sparrow missile used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) on its Tornado ADV/F3 air defense aircraft. Skyflash medium-range, air-to-air missile retains the basic characteristics of semi-active Sparrow missile. Skyflash missile was deployed by Tornado F3s during operations Desert Shield and Desert Strom in 1990-1991.
Each Tornado ADV aircraft carries four Skyflash missiles under its belly. In addition to the RAF, the Italian Air Force also procured Tornado ADVs along with the Skyflash missile. The Skyflash missile was also provided to the Swedish Air Force Saab 37 Viggen.
