The HAWK-AMRAAM is a medium-range air defense system produced between the Raytheon and Kongsberg corporations. The air defense system combines two combat-proven items, the HAWK air defense system and the AMRAAM medium range missiles. The resulting HAWK-AMRAAM air defense system supports multiple simultaneous engagements against a wide variety of threats.
The HAWK-AMRAAM consists of HAWK and AMRAAM missiles on universal launchers, a fire direction center, the AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel radar and the HAWK AN/MPQ-61 high power illuminator for target tracking and illumination. The HAWK-AMRAAM is specially suitable against low to medium-altitude flying threats, including aircraft and cruise missiles as well as in saturation raids and heavy countermeasures environments.
