The IAI Katana is a modular unmanned combat marine system intended for a wide range of homeland security applications as well as the protection of the exclusive economic zones (EEZ). This unmanned surface vessel is also well suited for harbor security, patrol of shallow coastal and territorial waters, surface and electronic warfare, and protection of offshore platforms such as oil rigs and pipelines. The multifunctional Katana can be operated autonomously controlled via an advanced command and control station or manned during combat operations. Besides, this vessel can provide early-warning, classification, identification and tracking of targets. Its autonomous navigation system provides collision avoidance. The vessel's payload includes electro-optical sensors, communication systems, radar and small/compact weapon systems. The Katana was introduced at Euronaval exhibition in October 2014.
