The two Naresuan-class, also known as Type 25T, multi-purpose frigates were built in China in the 1990s for Thailand's Navy. The ships have been designed to perform anti-submarine (ASW) and anti-surface (ASuW) warfare with secondary anti-air warfare (AAW) capability. Its weapon system includes eight Harpoon anti-ship missiles, one eight-cell Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missile system, one 5-inch 54 calibers dual-purpose gun, two 37mm anti-aircraft guns, and two triple 12.75-inch torpedo tubes. Besides, the ship's aft hangar and flight deck enable operation of a single light helicopter. The propulsion system combines two cruise diesel engines developing 14,770-bhp, and two LM2500 boost gas turbines developing 50,000-shp. Thailand's Navy commissioned two ships in 1995 and 1996.
