Doosan DST Signs Phase 2 Contract for K-21 Infantry Combat Armored Vehicles

Doosan DST singed a phase 2 contract worth US$ 665 million with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration of Korea for the supply of k-21 infantry combat armored vehicles, the strongest of its kind in the world, on December 21.
Doosan DST has thus secured a stable production of the vehicle for supply through 2012 by signing the phase 2 contract after sealing a phase 1 contract worth US$ 410 million in 2008.
Doosan DST and the Agency for Defense Development started development of the Korea the K-21 infantry combat armored vehicle in late 1999 in a bid to reinforce the Korean military’s combat capability, and then produced test vehicles, and conducted assessment and field operation tests of the vehicle. The company began mass production of the vehicle in 2009, which started to be deployed at field military units in late November.
