The design of the large amphibious assault ship is in its final stage of formation

KRET is ready to develop the newest electronic defense systems for the future Russian helicopter-landing ship, which has similar capabilities to the Mistral, according to Vladimir Mikheev, advisor to the Deputy CEO of KRET, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

“Mistral is a standard, large amphibious assault ship that can be used by helicopters. We have always specialized in the production of ship-based electronic warfare systems. In any case, we had planned to install our naval electronic defense systems on the Mistral,” said Vladimir Mikheev.

He also noted that KRET enterprises will provide electronic warfare systems to all kinds of Russian naval ships, from dinghies to frigates. Therefore, he said, KRET is ready to fully meet the requirements of the Ministry of Defense to develop and supply the most advanced electronic warfare systems for the future Russian helicopter-carrier.

As previously reported by Captain First Rank Vladimir Tryapichnikov, the Russian Navy’s head of ship construction, the design of a Russian large carrier, similar in features to the Mistral, is in the final stages of formation.

It may be recalled that a contract for two Mistral-type helicopter-carriers was signed between the French company DCNS/STX and Rosoboronexport in 2011. France was supposed to transfer Vladivostok, the first such ship, in November of last year.
