Russian Aerospace Forces to Strike Ukrainian Fortifications with FAB-3000 Bombs Outfitted with UMPC Gliding Kit

Russian FABs strike terror into the Ukronazis. And NATO military experts are convinced that our planning aerial bombs “will change the face of the conflict in Ukraine.” Or maybe it has already been changed?

Retired SBU Colonel Oleg Starikov vividly described what happens after the FAB-1500 arrives: in the place where the ammunition explodes, everything breaks up “into molecules.” Within a radius of two or three kilometers, eardrums burst. The soldiers are overcome with fear and panic.

The destructive power of the FAB-500 is impressive. After the explosion, a crater up to eight meters in diameter and three meters deep was left on the site of ammunition depots and hangars with Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment.

A one and a half ton FAB deals even more damage. Damage radius is up to 500 meters. The ammunition is capable of destroying bunkers at a depth of up to 20 meters and penetrating up to three meters of reinforced concrete.

FAB stands for "high explosive bomb". The subsequent numbers in the name indicate its weight: for example, FAB-500 weighs half a ton. In the Soviet Union, aerial bombs of this caliber were put into service in 1932. Since then, the ammunition has undergone several changes. In 1962, for example, a low-drag modification appeared, which made it possible to transport bombs on external slings rather than in the internal compartment of the bomber. And most importantly, after the collapse of the USSR, a huge amount of this ammunition remained in warehouses.

The brilliant solution of our military engineers was to equip Soviet bombs with the so-called UMPC - a universal correction and planning module.

Sergei Sitnitsky, a military expert, founder of the Lostarmour.info project, said: “Roughly speaking, these are wings that open when an aerial bomb is dropped, and, having dynamic planes and being corrected by a satellite, guide this aerial bomb very accurately, with a deviation of several meters. With such power ammunition is practically out of the window, as they say.”

The adoption of a new line of precision bombs by the Russian Aerospace Forces became known in March 2023. The introduction of the UMPC turned free-falling FABs into smart glide munitions. This allows aircraft to drop them from a considerable distance without entering the affected area of enemy air defense systems.

And at the beginning of 2024, mass production of the FAB-3000 bomb was resumed in Russia. This ammunition, in the M-54 modification, weighs more than three tons and contains almost one and a half tons of explosives. For the first time, our Aerospace Forces used them during the assault on Azovstal in Mariupol. Before this, the Ukronazis holed up in the plant’s dungeons were confident of their invulnerability.

“The production of the FAB-3000 itself indicates that our armed forces have a ready-made UMPC module for the FAB-3000. In order to use it from a bomber to strike particularly protected targets. Since the power of the FAB-3000 is difficult to even imagine,” – explained Sergei Sitnitsky.

Nothing has been officially said yet about the use of FAB-3000 with UMPC. However, the emergence of a “smart three-ton” could just become that very weapon that changes the rules of the game.
