Russian Skat 350M Drone Modified to Withstand the Effects of Electronic Warfare on the Battlefield
Released on Wednesday, October 02, 2024
The Skat 350M unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has received several improvements following the first use of the device during a special military operation. The Kalashnikov concern reported this on its Telegram channel.
"We have implemented a unique technical solution that allows us to switch the communication channel right during the flight," said Alexander Likhachev, director of the Kalashnikov Concern's UAV division.
He added that such changes help the drone to counter enemy electronic warfare. UAV operators will also be able to change the power of the current communication channel.
In response to feedback from the SVO, the developers increased the number of channels on the ground receiving and transmitting device (GTRD), which is necessary for UAV control. The developers also implemented an improvement that increases the safety of the crew. In particular, the range of the communication line between the GTRD and the ground control station has been increased.
On October 2, Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev announced the need to develop models of drones and aircraft, the creation of which is being carried out at SibNIA. He said this during his visit to one of the largest research centers in the aviation and space industries.
