The Hwasongpho-16B is an intermediate range ballistic missile (IRBM) equipped with an hypersonic gliding warhead that is released at an altitude of approximately 100 kilometers. The new hypersonic weapon system was first test fired on April 2, 2024. The solid-propellant weapon may have a range of more than 3,000 kilometers. The Hwasongpho-16B road-mobile hypersonic weapon system is expected to enter service in the 2025-2030 timeframe.
